List the pros and cons of your choice to group computers together into labs versus putting them into individual classrooms? Pros for computers being in individual classrooms: The computers are more accessible to the students. They will use it more often. Students will be more familiar and comfortable with the computer by having daily access to it. Cons for computers being in individual classrooms: It is hard to monitor what the students are doing every time they get on the computer while other things are going on in the classroom. Teacher may to reteach computer lessons to the students because they will be on the computer at different times.

What ways can educations overcome the concerns about technology in the schools? Viral scans, spam blockers, internet filters will help educations overcome the concerns.

Can you believe it? We are already in the last few weeks of the semester! I am so excited because this means that I can take a break from school and do some serious cleaning up. Usually, cleaning doesn't excite me. But, since I have not been able to do it, I am so looking forward to it! Okay, it's time to get back to work. I have so much to make up because my four year old destroyed my flash drive with all my assignments for all 6 classes! So, I've gotta go. Later!

Fall Break?

Fall Break! It sounds wonderful, don't you think? It sounds like it is a break to take a breather and relax to enjoy the weather. Well, I don't know about many of you, but I won't even notice it. Nothing stops for me. Everything will be business as usual. If only it was a week long instead of two days long!

Michaelmas Day

Michaelmas day is a day celebrating Archangel Michael in Europe. It honors the start of the harvest, the first day of fall. The flower of Michaelmas is the purple astradaisy. Popular foods are yeast and blackberries. It currently falls on September 29 of every year.

We will do a cooking activity for Michaelmas day. We will be making blueberry crumble. We will have to figure how much it will cost to make enough for everyone to have a serving. We will also figure how much it would cost to feed each. (But, we will price them differently.) Then, we will have the servings set up to buy with our play money. Each student will need to count up the exact amount to buy their serving. This will reinforce their money counting skills.

Blackberry Crumble (serves 4)

2 cups washed blackberries (thawed if frozen)
2/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice, or juice of 1 lemon
3 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt

Put blackberries in a 1-quart baking dish with half of the sugar. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Cream butter, remaining sugar, flour, and salt together; sprinkle over berries. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Serve warm or cold with cream, ice cream, or dessert sauce.

Another Day in IT 365

Hello All!
We are moving fast in IT 365. We have done concept mapping and are moving on to building web pages. I'm sure that it will be a lot of fun. The concept mapping wasn't head over heels exciting, but it was cool. Concept mapping is a really useful tool with planning lessons and even helping children see how information is related. It can also be used for teaching a specific lesson. Inspiration and Kidspiration have several tools and templates that can be used in the classroom. I look forward to using both in the future.

My First IT 365 Blog

Well, this just happens to be my first blog ever! I have never blogged before, so this is new to me. It seems that all I have to do is basically talk in writing. As anyone reading this will soon find out, I have no problems talking. This will be so much fun!
